What inspired this collection? 
We created this capsule collection to celebrate our new flagship on Rodeo Drive. It’s inspired by everything I love about Southern California — beautiful flowers, the timeless elegance of Old Hollywood, Tony Duquette interiors, the culture of Palm Springs in the Sixties and Seventies…

What are you wearing here? 
I’m wearing the Isabel gown, with its mix of intricate hand-beading and threaded embroideries, and the Rodeo flower beaded drop earrings. We pulled the floral motifs straight from magnolia and jasmine — flowers you’d find in Los Angeles. I love wearing this gown from day to evening — I think wearing tunics at night when you entertain is such a glamorous concept. It’s what my grandmother used to do.

What else is in the collection? 
There are some really beautiful floral guipure pieces, like the Merida dress, and a fun hand-painted print we’ve called the Oasis on dresses and gowns. They’re great travel pieces, right down to the accessories. Vibrant and chic, with sunny California charm.

What is the new store like? 
We worked with my friend, architect and interior designer Daniel Romualdez, who designed all our other boutiques. And like the other stores, we pulled details from my own life and travels. The facade, for example, is the same fretwork design you see on our perfume bottles; the motif is inspired by the Chinese Chippendale chairs in my childhood home. But we also kept in mind the easy sophistication of Southern California, so there are splashes of sea-foam green plus an open terrace on the third floor for an indoor-outdoor vibe that feels very L.A. to me.

Are you doing anything else to celebrate Rodeo Drive? 
We are — we’re celebrating with a party at the flagship. We also worked on a beautiful film with photographer and publisher Lisa Eisner, who really embodies the city’s bohemian elegance. You can see our film here on Tory Daily, as well as special L.A. stories to celebrate the moment.
